Bratislava is just over an hour's drive from Vienna. So the ideal thing is to take a day trip from the Austrian capital.
The monumental building of the Bratislava Castle is visible from a great distance. Certainly, every visitor of Bratislava notices the pronounced silhouette. The majestic impression is enhanced by the hill it stands on, some eighty-five metres above the water level of the Danube river.
It was an important fortified settlement at the end of the 9th century.
There are four entrance gates to the Castle out of which three are currently accessible. A green lawn covers the whole surrounding area. The benches and standing lamps give the park romantic atmosphere.
The area in front of the Castle carries a name “Yard of Honor”. It is bordered by two triumphal gates and guard houses of the imperial guard.
A short walk takes you from the castle to the old town center.
St. Michael's Tower is one of essential symbols of Bratislava. Only the gate on St. Michael's Tower has been preserved out of the original four gates that were gateways for entering the fortified medieval city.
A zero kilometre, which counts the distance of selected cities in the world from Bratislava, is located under the tower.
A series of small allyes converge to the main square The Franciscan Square.
Hviezdoslav's Square is one of the city's most beautiful and liveliest squares. The building of the Slovak National Theatre (SND) is the most representative building on the square.
The most famous statue in Bratislava Slovakia is probably a bronze statue entitled "Cumil". The statue is of a man peeking out from under a manhole cover.
Just in frot of it a musician was playing some music with self-made orchestra. simply amazing.
