Just North of Malta, easily reachable with 20 min of ferry trip ,there is the small island of Gozo (Għawdex).
The main village, is Victoria. Like Mdina, Vitoria is surrounded by walls and ins developed around narrow allays around the main square, with the main market. Unfortunately during my visit, all the main historical part part of the city was under "refurbishment", and there was not a lot to see .
Main attraction are the Assunta Cathedral
and the old prison, where jails are kept in the original condition and you can read on the wall dates and messages written by prisoners
For sure, one the main tourist attraction in Gozo is the sea, with its bays, views and sea sights. With a 10 min bus ride, it is possible to reach the most norther part of Malta, Sal Lorenzo. From here you can walk to the Azure window, a limestone natural arch.
you can even swim in natural swimming pool
But all the coastline is breathless
Between Malta and Gozo, there is the small island of Comino.
It is only 4 square km, and it is decribed as a paradise, but in my opinion is overrated. without any doubts, it is beautiful , with amazing sea and wild nature, but simply there are too many tourists. The famous Blue lagoon it is a kind of big rock, plenty of rubbish and with literally no space to sit
with a short walk into the inner part of the island, you can enjoy a much more quite place
On the way back, the ferry stopped in a small bay,the Anchor bay with a tiny little village. It a kind of ghost village, with none living. It is the Popeye village. It was built 30 years ago as set of the movie Popeye and since then it has been used as touristic attraction.
